In Praia, Tempu, an introverted undertaker, mourns his father's death while facing family pressure to leave Cabo Verde and sell his father’s house. He meets Mónica, a Cape Verdean from Paris attending her estranged father's burial. After a drunken night together, they embark on a road trip to the countryside, where Tempu plans to say goodbye before leaving the country. Along the way, they confront family secrets and feelings of alienation. Tempu reveals his father drank himself to death mourning his mother's suicide. Mónica decides to leave Cabo Verde, embracing her identity. After a tender goodbye, Tempu buries an immigrant's wife and leaves the country. A year later, Mónica sings a song dedicated to her father and Tempu, reflecting on their shared journey.
