Djam Neguin is a leading figure in the contemporary Afro-Portuguese cultural scene. His artistic endeavors span the docket of performing arts—dance, theater, music, fashion shows, performance—and visual arts, including cinema, video art, and photo-performance. He frequently works as a creative director on various projects and events, while maintaining a significant role as a producer, curator, educator, and artivist. In Cabo Verde, he has choreographed all the major national events. As a filmmaker and director, he has produced transdisciplinary works exploring the body from Afrofuturist, post-humanist, and post-identity perspectives, blending vocabularies and placing (predominantly) Cape Verdean ancestry and traditional culture at the center of his research. He is the director of the Kontornu International Dance Festival, the Uabá Video Dance Festival, and the Praia Dance Showcase, and has previously led the National Hip Hop Competition and Kebra Cabana Urban Battle. He coordinates the CPLP Dance Network and the Cape Verde Performing Arts Festival Network, and is a member of SurDanzaSur and the UNESCO International Dance Committee.
