Pedro José-Marcellino is a Lisbon-born Cape Verdean-Canadian storyteller, highly attentive to memory, identity, and belonging, the archaeology of objects and places, the poetry of empty space, and the aesthetics of silence. He directed two mid-length films and one feature: AFTER THE WAR: MEMOIRS OF EXILE (2014), and WAY UP NORTH: AN ARCTIC SYMPHONY (2015) and the acclaimed WHEN THEY AWAKE (2017), both co-directed wiith Hermon Farahi (KNOCK DOWN THE HOUSE). His directorial portfolio also includes a slate of documentary and hybrid/experimental shorts: THE RED ROCKS OF MARS/UTAH (2023), IOCA'S FUNANA x FUTURE FOGO (2022), THE EIGHTH FIRE (2022), PRAVDA, ZEITGEIST APPARATCHIKS AND THE GAUCHE CAVIAR – A PUNK POLITICAL POEM (2021), RIGA (2018) and GUY TALK (2012).
